Lately, Connor and I have have had a lot of friends come visit us. Which is absolutely awesome. We love showing friends and family around the place we now call home. So, I decided that I would create a fun little list of places we like to take our visitors so just in case you’re coming and you don’t give us a call (shame on you!) you can take on our favorite places to frequent and visit as well!
First, let’s start locally. And by local, I mean right in the subdivision I live in. Jack’s Bar & Grill and Steamers Coffee Shop is one of our most frequent places to go. But before I get into the best food and drinks there, let me give you a little background. I’m so proud to know these people because of the work that they do.
Their prep kitchen opened in 2014 with the sole purpose of providing employment and training in a safe environment for those with differing abilities. The prep kitchen staff makes some of the best jam ever, probably second to Aunt Lisa’s. Plus the staff is always friendly. It truly is a “Cheers” type of environment when we go to Jack’s. Unfortunately, it’s probably because we eat there at least once a week (okaaaay, twice!), brunch every other, drinks sometimes at night... Well, you get the picture. It’s a very convenient restaurant thanks to the location, but with the nicest people ever. Connor and I love their brunch. Jack’s has various choices of eggs benedict, scrambles, and a killer bottomless mimosa!
Next on my list is moving downtown. Or Boulder. Or Cherry Creek. Do you like oysters? Because we found a killer oyster happy hour at Jax and have also made sure to have visited each location they have in the Denver area. Jax Fish House does just as they say; they bring the coast to the coastless.
Jax with an X has a great happy hour with $1.50 oysters on the half shell, their calamari is to DIE FOR, and, even though it’s messy, the peel-and-eat shrimp is just scrumptious. I’m getting hungry just talking about it! Don’t forget to add a glass of rose or whiskey on the rocks to help you wash it all down. You won’t be disappointed! Oh, and a secret (that’s already out), go on a Monday night. Happy Hour is Happy Night!
Do you like baseball? Honestly, if you don’t, you’ll still love this next place. Purchase some Rockies’ tickets, I highly suggest getting there two hours before game time and buying Rock Pile tickets. We went to a game for $8 total thanks to the Rock Pile. Then go straight to the rooftop bar and enjoy watching some, actually really good, baseball from the outfield, and panoramic views of the front range!
When you’re down in LoDo, make sure to stop in our Union Station. It’s newly renovated and has a few really good restaurants in there as well! Also, if you know me, I LOVE a good burger. Hopdoddy is one of our favorites. It’s just a block right of Union Station and just delicious. Yum.
Onto the next one! If you’re looking for a fancier evening, go check out Peaks Lounge at the Hyatt Regency hotel. But, go at sunset. You’ll see incredible views of the front range as well as the city. I can’t really describe it, just go.
Now, these are just a few, and obviously just eating and drinking. Check back soon and I’ll have a list of towns, hikes, skiing, and much more!
